Constable Cahill was killed while investigating a saloon brawl in the southern section of the Village of Haverstraw.

Suffern Police Chief William Thornhill, while in pursuit of a traffic violator, was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle.

Suffern Police Lieutenant Edson L. Thompson suffered a heart attack while in command of the departments 4th of July Parade detail.

Detective Conklin died after suffering a heart attack during a narcotics raid at the Lido Hotel in Spring Valley. He was 49 years old.

Palisades Interstate Park Police Chief Edward R. Gleason suffered a heart attack while commanding a police investigation and crowd control operation within the Bear Mt. State Park. He was 51 years old.

Officer Kennedy was killed after a drunk driver hit him while he was investigating a two car collision with another Officer. He was 25 years old.

Officer Reedy was killed when a speeding car struck him while on Route 303 where he was directing traffic. The former Pearl River resident was 25 years old.

New York State Park Police Officer Francis J. Donato suffered a heart attack after responding to  two fights at the Bear Mt. Inn.

Officer Brown was slain during the Brink's Robbery shortly after being dispatched to the road block at the New York State Thruway in Nyack. Officer Brown was killed in the crossfire at the entrance to the New York State Thruway. He was 45 years old.

Sergeant O'Grady was slain during the Brink's Robbery. He was one of four officers who created a road block at the entrance to the New York State Thruway. The Pearl River resident was shot five times. He was 33 years old.

Trooper Robert V. Conklin was killed while on motorcycle patrol in Ulster County.

Officer Robert J. Byrnes was killed by a psychopath while on a special assignment in Coney Island. The former Monsey resident was assigned to a Brooklyn precinct.

Lieutenant O'Connor died of injuries sustained when his patrol vehicle was hit by a car driven by an individual who was subsequently charged with drunk driving.

N.Y.P.D. Officer John Scala of Blauvelt was slain while in Manhattan guarding a hospital payroll. He was a security guard awaiting official retirement at the time.

N.Y.P.D. Officer Frank Bugdin was slain in an exchange of gunfire with an off-duty Housing Authority Officer, in Manhattan, while investigating a report of a person with a gun.

Officer Edwin Fogel, a former resident of New City, was shot dead in a gun fight with an ex-convict on the Harlem River Drive. Officer Fogel was 39 years old.

Officer D'Amico suffered a heart attack while chasing and apprehending a suspect.

Officer Michael Buczek of the 34th Precinct, N.Y.P.D., while investigating two suspicious persons on his post, was shot and fatally wounded by one of the suspects.

On December 28, 1991 Sgt. Keith Levine, N.Y.P.D., was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with an armed robbery suspect in Manhattan.

Officer Vincent J. Guidice succumbed to wounds sustained while affecting an arrest on a domestic violence suspect in the 50th Precinct, City of New York.

Officer Jason D. Conklin,22, died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident while chasing a speeder. Jason had just graduated from the Rockland County Police Academy in June (1997) and had been with the Tuxedo Park Police for about a year. He lived in Sloatsburg at the time of his death.
